Today's Devotion::
"A TRUE FRIEND"
HI!
As I get older, it seems that my body and my
fat have become true friends!
And they defy separation!
_______SCRIPTURE____________
Prov 18:24
A man that hath friends must shew himself
friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh
closer than a brother.
KJV
_______THOUGHT______________
Our Scripture above says, too have friends,
one must BE friendly.
The Hebrew for friendly is r a
(pronounced: raw ah).
The meaning of this word is to spoil, or,
to ruin.
Therefore, to have friends, one must not think of
self, but of others!
He/she must spoil self with genuine affection
for others.
William Penn once said, "A true friend advises
justly, assists readily, adventures boldly, takes
all patiently, defends courageously, and
continues as a friend unchangeably."
Arnold Glascow once said, "A true friend never
gets in your way unless you happen to be going
down!"
Those thoughts seem to make the last half of
our text MEANINFUL!
"...there IS a Friend that sticketh CLOSER
than a brother!"
THAT Friend is JESUS!
He came to "spoil," or "ruin" Himself for our
sake.
He yielded Himself to the death of the cross to
win our friendship!
And, His promise to those who believe in Him
is: "I will NEVER leave thee, nor forsake thee!"
(Heb. 13:5)
Jesus CONTINUALLY spoils Himself to pour
out grace and mercy upon those who love Him.
My hope is, that I might ever be
As true a friend as He.
Love ya!
