DAILY DEVOTIONS

Today's Devotion:
"Another Promise Prophesied"

The promise of God's presence does not
mean He will protect us from our own
premeditated sins!

_______SCRIPTURE____________

Is. 7:14
Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign;
Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son,
and shall call his name Immanuel.
KJV

_______THOUGHT______________

Isaiah told king Ahaz to ask God for a "sign."
Ahaz said he would not "tempt" the Lord by
asking a sign. (See Is. 7:10-13)

Both God and Isaiah knew that Ahaz would
seek an alliance with Assyria against Syria.
(See 2Chron. 16:8)

So the prophecy in Is. 7:14 (above) was to
assure Ahaz that God would always be with
His people.

But Ahaz built an altar which he had seen
in Assyria, and instructed that it would
replace the brazen altar of the Lord!

Then, a child was born to Isaiah named
Maher-shalal-hash-baz.
That name means hasting the enemy to the
bounty!

And, before that child was 13, Assyrians had
defeated both Syria AND Israel!

The name "Immanuel" means God WITH us!
That name had a future prophetic meaning.

When the virgin Mary conceived and bore
Jesus, God was truly WITH us in manhood!

Jesus is God in the flesh!
And, His presence assured ALL mankind
that He came to be SAVIOR, and to deliver
mankind from their sin.

The promise of God's presence TO deliver
mankind from the SLAVERY of sin, does not infer
that He will deliver us from the physical
CONSEQUENCES of our own premeditated sin!

Christians, God IS "with us!"
Let us LIVE exhibiting His PRESENCE!

Love ya!
