"CALLING UPON GOD"
A boy of 11 years of age wanted $100
to buy a new bicycle.
He prayed to the Lord for 2 weeks.
Nothing happened.
He decided to write God a letter, in
which he requested the $100.
The postmaster saw it, and sent it to
the President.
The President was so impressed by
the faith of the boy, that he sent him
$5.00.
The boy was thankful for the $5.00.
He sat down and wrote another letter.
"God, THANK YOU for the money.
I noticed you sent it through D.C.
Those morons deducted $95.00!!"

1 Moreover the word of the LORD came
unto Jeremiah the second time, whle he
was yet shut up in the court of the prison,
saying,
2 Thus saith the LORD the maker thereof,
the LORD that formed it, to establish it;
the LORD is His Name.
3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and
shew thee great and mighty things, which
thou knowest not.

Notice that Jeremiah was in the "prison."
Some of the most valuable things God
teaches us are during times of difficulty.
The word "call" is from the Hebrew qara'.
It means to call strongly.
I remember once when I was going to the
Philippines on a mission trip.
We landed in Tokyo, and I was walking
down a long corridor to catch the next
flight.
Behind me I heard a deep, resonant and
very loud voice call "BROTHER BRUCE!"
I turned and saw Bill Britt.
He was returning home from the Philippines.
When we feel imprisoned by the circumstances
of our life, God wants us to "CALL UNTO ME!"
Perhaps we need not shout, for God is as
close to us as our next breath.
But, we can call with URGENCY!
Are you CALLING UPON God?
