Today's Devotion:
"COMMITMENT"
Commitment involves 2 things:
1) A sincere decision,
2) and resolve to continue.
_______SCRIPTURE____________
Ps. 61:1-4
1 To the chief Musician upon Neg'-i-nah,
A Psalm of David. Hear my cry, O God;
attend unto my prayer.
2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto
thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead
me to the rock that is higher than I.
3 For thou hast been a shelter for me, and
a strong tower from the enemy.
4 I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will
trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.
KJV
_______THOUGHT______________
If one reads many of the Psalms, he/she can
see that David faced many troubles, and
called out to God for help.
Each time, he found that God was a "shelter,"
and a "strong tower" of defense.
Therefore, David calling out to God required
a COMMITMENT to RELY upon God.
That is a SINCERE DECISION!
Also, we see in verse 4 that David had a
commitment to CONTINUE in TRUST.
From wherever we are, we can call upon
God (verse 2).
Under whatever condition our emotions may
be, we can call upon God (verse 2).
David realized that his only salvation from sin,
and from present enemies on earth is God
(verse 3).
And he also realized that God had promised
eternal salvation to those who will surrender
their lives to Him (verse 4)
Christian, whatever difficult situations you face,
remember:
You made a sincere commitment to TRUST God.
Now, CONTINUE in that trust, and you will find
PEACE in the TRIAL!
Love ya!
