DAILY DEVOTIONS

Today's Devotion:
"CONTRAST"

In 1859, Charles Dickens wrote a poem
called, "The Tale Of Two Cities."

In that poem, he began with the contrast
that was in the era.

"It was the best of times,
It was the worst of times,
It was the age of wisdom,
It was the age of foolishness,
It was the epoch of belief,
It was the epoch of incredulity..."

_______SCRIPTURE____________

Micah 5:2
But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be
little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of
thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be
ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been
from of old, from everlasting.
KJV

_______THOUGHT______________

We might note that this "Bethlehem Ephrata"
was a small, rural town about 5 miles south
of Jerusalem.

At the time Jesus was born there, the town
had an estimated population of 1,600 people.

It was the burial place of Rachel, the wife of
Jacob (Gen. 35:19)
It was the ancestral home of King David.

In our Scripture above, Micah wrote a prophecy
that from this SMALL town, the "ruler in Israel"
would come.
Micah also said that this ruler will be the
One "Whose goings forth have been from of
old, from everlasting."

As we look forward to Christmas, when we
celebrate the birth of Christ, let's see the
CONTRAST.

From this small, rural town, the long-awaited
MESSIAH would come.
And, He would be THE Ruler of ALL!
He would be the One from ETERNITY!

From this small, rural town, the CREATOR
came to be part of His creation.
He came to DIE for men's sins and offer
eternal salvation to all who would receive
Him.

John 1:12 says, "But as many as receive Him,
to them gave He power to become sons of
God, even to them that believe on His Name."

From ETERNITY to Bethlehem;
From Bethlehem to a cross;
From the cross to a grave;
From the grave RISEN AGAIN!

Have you RECEIVED this JESUS Who is the
CREATOR and ONLY SAVIOR?

Love ya!
