"DEADLINE APPROACHING"
The phrase "No taxation without representation"
was a slogan used in the revolutionary war.
Basically, it was an argument against taxing
the individual in America by the British
government.
I think some of the older American revolution
guys would shudder if they saw what
"taxation WITH representation" has done!
_______SCRIPTURE____________
Mark 12:14-17
14 And when they were come, they say unto him,
Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for
no man: for thou regardest not the person of men,
but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to
give tribute to Caesar, or not?
15 Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he,
knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them, Why tempt
ye me? bring me a penny, that I may see it.
16 And they brought it. And he saith unto them, Whose
is this image and superscription? And they said unto
him, Caesar's.
17 And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to
Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the
things that are God's. And they marvelled at him.

_______THOUGHT______________
Briefly, in1861 a personal income tax was passed
to fund the civil war.
In 1872 that tax was repealed.
Then, in 1913 an amendment was passed for the
personal income tax.
So, basically, the USA existed WITHOUT a
personal income tax for 137 years.
Of course, if we have a government that must
fight wars, defend the nation, protect the citizens,
there must be a means to support those actions.
Jesus was asked about paying taxes in the
Scripture above.
His answer astounded the questioners!
Pay BOTH the government AND God!
Also, in Matt. 17, Jesus told Peter to go fishing.
In the first fish he caught, there would be a coin.
With the coin, Peter should pay the TEMPLE tax
(on Jewish people only) for himself and Jesus.
One may discuss the AMOUNT of taxation and
argue that it is too much or too little.
Congress has been arguing about that since
1913, or over 113 years!
Christians often dispute personal income taxes
commanded by law.
But most miss the point of the discussion between
Jesus and the Pharisees and Herodians in Mark 12!
Taxation is a form of ascribing Lordship!
Is "Caesar" lord over you? YES!
Then DO what is right; pay what is DUE!
Is GOD "LORD" over all that you are? YES!
He is LORD of lords, KING of kings!
Then DO what is right; pay what is DUE!
Love ya!
