Today's Devotion:
"FOOLISHNESS of PREACHING"
A young pastor was attending seminary.
One Sunday, he delivered a very dry
theological sermon.
One of the older men, who never
complimented him on his sermon, came by
and shook his hand.
"Pastor, that sermon reminded me of the
peace and love of God!"
Surprised, the pastor asked, "Why do you
say that?"
The older man said, "Because it 'passed all
understanding,' and seemed to 'endure forever!'"
__________SCRIPTURE__________
Acts 4:12
Neither is there salvation in any other: for
there is none other name under heaven
given among men, whereby we must be
saved.
KJV
__________THOUGHT__________
God has chosen that by "the Gospel of Christ,"
through "the foolishness of preaching" people
come to the knowledge of both sinfulness and
the need of salvation offered by God through
Jesus Christ (See Rom. 1:16, and 1Cor. 1:21).
God's Holy Spirit uses the written Word of God
like a "sword" to cut into people's spirits (hearts).
Heb. 4:12 says,
"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and
sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even
to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of
the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the
thoughts and intents of the heart."
AND, God's Holy Spirit uses saved people in the
"foolishness of preaching!" (1Cor. 1:21)
The word "preaching" is translated from the Greek
word "kerugma."
Actually that is a simple proclamation from each
saved sinner to other sinners.
It is simply their testimony of how they met Christ,
and the changes that took place in their lives.
Now, let's look at Philippians 2:13.
"For it is God that worketh IN YOU both to will
and to DO of His good pleasure!"
So, Christian, may I ask, "How much are YOU
proclaiming to others what God has done in
YOU?"
Love ya!
