Today's Devotion:
"For POWERFUL and DURABLE Marriages"
Back in the 1940's to the 1950's, my
dad installed a big rope on a big limb
of the huge oak tree in our front yard.
As kids, we could swing freely on the
rope, not being afraid of it breaking.
__________SCRIPTURE__________
Ecc. 4:12
And if one prevail against him, two shall
withstand him; and a threefold cord is not
quickly broken.
KJV
__________THOUGHT__________
Twisting, or plaiting, 3 pieces of rope
together makes a very strong rope.
A traditional, high-quality, or historical lariat
(or rawhide riata) is typically plaited for
strength and durability.
This brings a special thought about friends.
Prov. 18:24 says, "A man that HAS friends
must show himself friendly: and there IS a
friend who sticks closer than a brother."
(My paraphrase)
Now, let's take those two thoughts and apply
them to a marriage.
The MAIN strand in a marriage should be
the Lord Jesus.
AROUND Him, the bride and groom are
WRAPPED.
THAT will make a threefold cord that is NOT
easily broken.
With both husband and wife clinging to
Jesus, the marriage is STRONGER!!
EACH has TWO friends!
Husbands and wives WRAP your marriage
around Jesus.
Then, there will be powerful STRENGTH and
DURABILITY!
Love ya!
