DAILY DEVOTIONS

Today's Devotion:
"JESUS WEPT"

"In the quiet times this image comes
to me: Jesus weeping.
Jesus wept, and in His weeping He
joined Himself forever to those who
mourn."
(Ann Weems)

_______SCRIPTURE____________

John 11:33-35
33 When Jesus therefore saw her weeping,
and the Jews also weeping which came with
her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled.
34 And said, Where have ye laid him? They
said unto him, Lord, come and see.
35 Jesus wept.
KJV

_______THOUGHT______________

In these verses Jesus exhibited both His
Godliness and His humanity.

As God, He joined Himself to mankind, and
was indignant at what we allow to hurt
ourselves.

In verse 33, the Greek word for "groaned"
is embrimaomai, which is an indignant sound
and implies murmuring against.

In verse 35, the Greek word for "wept" is
dakruo, and describes the shedding of tears.

As God, He joined with mankind to show
that sin is of our own doing and eventually
brings death.

As man, He joined with mankind to weep
and fulfill His own teaching:
"Blessed are they that mourn: for they
shall be comforted."
(Matt. 5:4)

When Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead,
He exhibited the power of God!
And, the family and friends were comforted.

Though God despises our sin, He is still
COMPASSIONATE toward us!
He loves, He cares, and His loving heart
joins in our sorrow.

ONE BLESSED DAY -
For those who surrender to Jesus as Lord,
He will COMFORT them with resurrection
from the dead!
And that will be a day never ending in which
there will be no sorrow, because there will
be no more sin!

Love ya!
