Today's Devotion:
"OVERCOMING FEAR"
Many years ago, my dad told me
"Son, don't pray for patience,
because the Bible says,
'tribulation worketh patience.'"
He was referring to Rom. 5:3.
________SCRIPTURE________
Ps. 56:3
What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.
4 In God I will praise his word, in God I
have put my trust; I will not fear what
flesh can do unto me.
KJV
________THOUGHT___________
It was Saturday morning in November.
I had killed 4 squirrels, & cleaned them.
Then, I was cleaning my single-shot 22,
on the steps of our back porch.
But someone else was hunting in the
woods behind our house.
I heard a gunshot, and almost
immediately felt a terrible burning
in my left thigh.
I jumped up and started yelling, LOUD!
Mom & Dad's bedroom was adjacent
to the back porch.
Dad heard the yelling and came running.
I showed him my thigh bleeding, and
cried, "I've been shot!"
He ran and got some towels, alcohol,
and merthiolate.
When he came back, and I saw what
he had in his hand, REAL FEAR
did an overload in my mind!
I KNEW what alcohol and merthiolate
would do to that wound.
He splashed alcohol, and I yelled and
danced.
Then, the merthiolate! YOWCH!
I yelled and danced.
Then, that very sharp pocket knife he
kept in his pocket appeared!
FEAR OVERLOAD again!!
Dad said, "Praise Jesus you're not
dying!"
Fear drives us to OVERLOAD in the
brain.
Trusting and praising Jesus chases
that overload away!!
At 12 years of age, on the steps of
that back porch, I learned a valuable
lesson.
FACE your fears with TRUST and
PRAISE to Jesus!
Love ya!
