"PRAY and WORK"
HI!
Early one evening a gentleman went
out to his garage and pulled the lawn
furniture out onto the driveway.
Shortly after followed the lawnmower,
a few gardening tools and a bicycle.
A curious neighbor wandered over and
asked if he was going to have a
garage sale.
"No," replied the gentleman, "my son
just bought his first car and right now
he's getting ready for a big date.
He'll be taking the car out soon to pick
up the girl."
"So what's with all the stuff?" asked
the neighbor.
"Well, after years of moving tricycles,
toys and sports equipment out of the
way every time I came home from
work, I wanted to make sure the
driveway was properly prepared for
him."
________SCRIPTURE____________
Matt 9:37-38
37 Then saith he unto his disciples,
The harvest truly is plenteous, but
the labourers are few;
38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the
harvest, that he will send forth
labourers into his harvest.
KJV
________THOUGHT______________
There are many things that can happen
to a field of grain ready for harvest: hurricanes,
tornadoes, locusts, blight, mildew, drought, etc.
Even though those things can, and do, happen
to a field, we still need laborers to gather the
harvest at the appropriate time.
Though difficulties come, sowing will still lead
to reaping!
There are also many things that happen to a
SPIRITUAL harvest: greed, lust, envy, pride,
thievery, murders, adulteries, etc.
But Jesus promised that the spiritual harvest is
still "plenteous!"
There is still a LOT to be brought in!
Hurricanes and tornadoes are brought into the
fields by church splits.
The "locusts" of the devil's legions try to erode
the fields.
The "blight" of evil's growth eats away at hearts
who may believe.
Mildew and drought are brought on by unconcerned
and insincere believers.
Our prayer must be for "laborers!"
We need strength in the laborers that ARE!
And we need ADDED laborers with a
zeal to gather!
And, we must have the assurance and hope that we
SHALL GATHER if we seek to reap!
The "LORD" of this harvest is Jesus Christ!
He is the One Who has committed to Christians the
task of gathering.
He is the One Who can strengthen us for the work.
And He is the One Who can add "to the church daily
such as should be saved." (See Acts 2:47)
Let us PRAY daily with assurance and hope!
And, let us WORK daily for our Master!
Love ya!
