Today's Devotion:
"SPECIFICS of CHRISTMAS 4"
Here is yet another prophecy given by
our Lord which was fulfilled in the birth
of Jesus Christ.
_______SCRIPTURE____________
2Sam. 7:11-17
11 And as since the time that I commanded
judges to be over my people Israel, and have
caused thee to rest from all thine enemies.
Also the LORD telleth thee that he will make
thee an house.
12 And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou
shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy
seed after thee, which shall proceed out of
thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.
13 He shall build an house for my name, and
I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.
14 I will be his father, and he shall be my son.
If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the
rod of men, and with the stripes of the children
of men:
15 But my mercy shall not depart away from
him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away
before thee.
16 And thine house and thy kingdom shall be
established for ever before thee: thy throne
shall be established for ever.
17 According to all these words, and according
to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.

_______THOUGHT______________
According to the prophecy given by God through
Nathan, the Davidic kingdom would continue
through a descendent of David.
And, the spiritual kingdom would endure
FOR EVER!
Now, Matthew traces the lineage of Joseph to
Solomon.
And Joseph was the "husband of Mary, of whom
was born Jesus, who is called Christ."
(Matt. 1:16)
Note, the Scripture does not say Jesus was
born of Joseph; but of Mary.
Luke traces the lineage back to Adam, through
David and Abraham.
Matthew states that Joseph was the son of Jacob,
which put Jesus in the line of David.
(Matt. 1:16)
Luke states that Jesus was SUPPOSED to have
been of Joseph.
But then Luke calls "Heli" the grandfather of
Jesus.
Heli was the father of Mary, which places Mary in
the Davidic lineage also. (Luke 3:23)
The SPECIFIC prophecy of God through Nathan
was fulfilled in the birth of Jesus Christ!
