Today's Devotion:
"WHY God Came"
The owner of a company told his employees one
day, “You worked very hard this year, therefore the
company’s profits increased dramatically. As a
reward, I’m giving everyone a check for $5,000."
Thrilled, the employees gather round and high five
one another.
Then the boss said,
“And if you work with the same tenacity next year,
I’ll SIGN those checks!”

Is. 53:4-5
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our
sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten
of God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he
was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement
of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes
we are healed.

In the little joke above, the boss had PROMISED
a bonus.
But He hadn't SIGNED it yet.
In the Scripture above, God made a PROMISE.
And, He came to SIGN it!
Messiah, said Isaiah, "was wounded.." and "bruised"
for OUR sin sickness!
God in Christ and took upon Himself the
punishment He had justly caused man to receive!
This is FORGIVENESS at its PINNACLE!
God DEMONSTRATED how much He LOVES
mankind!
"For God commendeth (demonstrated) His LOVE
toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners,
Christ DIED for us!" (Rom. 5:8)
We, sinners all, have NOTHING to offer God for
payment of our sins!
Therefore, the "peace" that we can receive with
God MUST come through Christ's VICARIOUS
payment.
The "healing" that mankind needs is the
RESTORATION to NON-sinful state of being!
ONLY God can provide that "healing"!
And, THAT is WHY God came!
He came to personally SIGN the check!!
He signed it with His OWN BLOOD!
ANY person can deposit that check of promise
into his/her spiritual account.
All he/she has to do is COUNTER SIGN!
He gave His life for YOU!
Have you given YOUR life to HIM?
