Today's Devotion:
"WHY God Came Part II"
Sheep will wander, seeking the grass of the
field.
That "wandering" may cause them TROUBLE!
It may lead them into a cavern where they may|
fall, unable to help themselves.
It is left to the shepherd to lead them in the
correct direction and protect them from such
a fall.
Men are like sheep.
But the Shepherd of men is the LORD
HIMSELF!

Is. 53:6
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have
turned every one to his own way; and the
LORD hath laid upon Him the iniquity of us
all.

21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt
call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people
from their sins.

_______THOUGHT______________
Allow me to key in on one particular word here:
"All!"
Not a single person can claim to have lived without sin!
Romans 3:23 says, "For ALL have SINNED, and come
short of the glory of God."
In this verse we find a deeper meaning of the word sin.
The verse plainly says that we have all "turned every one
to his own way."
That in itself is the real basis of sin.
God created us for Himself.
For us to take our lives and use them for self is sin because
it is against our Creator's design.
All other sins stem from this sin of selfishness.
It is said of King Rehoboam, in 2Chronicles 12:14, that:
"And he did EVIL, because he prepared NOT his heart
to seek the LORD!"
The prophecy in Is. 53:6 (above) is stated to show that
men are BENT to sin.
The consequences of their selfishness is disastrous!
God's plan for mankind, in the beginning, was for us
to walk with Him:
To have "fellowship" with Him, as in the "Garden of
Eden," when He walked with Adam and Eve.
Sin is that which destroys LIFE and ends in eternal
DEATH, or separation from God, Who is LIFE!
Therefore, the Shepherd of men is the LORD.
He came to deliver, or to SAVE men from themselves.
CHRISTmas means God interjected Himself into
mankind and PAID for our sins HIMSELF!
Atonement has been MADE in Christ.
Receipt of that payment can only come through
REPENTANCE: turning around, and walking
TOWARD the LORD!
