Today's Devotion:
"WORSHIP is a FREEDOM Given by GOD"
On July 1, 1776 Thomas
Jefferson presented a rough
draft of the Delcaration of
Independence to the
Continental Congress.
It was reviewed in Congress
and a few changes were
made.
The process of alterations
continued until late morning
on July 4.
Then the Declaration was
officially adopted.
_______SCRIPTURE_______
John 4:23-24
23 But the hour cometh, and
now is, when the true worshippers
shall worship the Father in spirit
and in truth: for the Father seeketh
such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that
worship him must worship him in
spirit and in truth.

_______THOUGHT_________
In some countries, even today,
the government decrees that
people must worship God in a
specific manner.
However, Jesus states in our
Scripture above, that ANYONE
can worship God "in spirit and
in truth."
That is why the 1st Amendment
to our Constitution deals with
this problem.
It says:
"Congress shall make no law
respecting an establishment of
religion, or prohibiting the free
exercise thereof; or abridging
the freedom of speech, or of the
press; or the right of the people
peaceably to assemble, and to
petition the Government for a
redress of grievances."
The Federal government then,
is prohibited to establish a
national religion.
AND, it is prohibited from
causing "free exercise" of
religion to be restrained.
Therefore, what Jesus said in
John 8:36 holds true in our
nation today:
"So if the Son sets you free,
you will be free indeed!"
May we, as we begin to
celebrate our 250 year
under that Constitution,
REMEMBER!
A freedom God Himself gives,
is a freedom OWNED by the
person.
If the State gives your freedom,
the State can also take it!
Praise God that Christian men
thought far enough ahead that
they provided PROTECTION
for the people!
Love ya!
